Calcutta News.Net Saturday 16th July, 2011
The United States has thanked Pakistani leaders for condemning the 13/7 Mumbai bombings.
A State Department statement said that Pakistan's Ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, was called to the Department on Thursday for a meeting with Coordinator for Counter-terrorism Daniel Benjamin.
Benjamin "thanked the ambassador for Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari's and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's statements deploring the Mumbai bombings," the Dawn quoted the statement, as saying.
At least 18 persons were killed and over 130 others were injured in three coordinated rush-hour explosions that ripped through crowded Mumbai streets on Wednesday evening. The condition of around 13 persons is reported to be critical.
The serial blasts had rocked Opera House at 6.54 p.m., Zaveri Bazaar, a popular jewellery market, at 6.55 p.m., and Kabutar Khana, Dadar at 7.06 p.m. (ANI)
