$85 million spent on Spelling mansion
Calcutta News.Net Saturday 16th July, 2011
A 56,500-square foot home, known as the Spelling Manor, has been sold in Los Angeles.
The French Chateau-style home, which was originally listed for a record $150 million, was sold for $65 million below the asking price.
The manor, owned by Candy Spelling, wife of the late Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling, was sold to 22-year old Petra Ecclestone, heir to the Formula 1 auto racing fortune.
Ms Ecclestone was able to take advantage of depressed prices in the US housing market and the weak dollar.
The price received is one of the largest for a single-family home in the US.
The home features 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, a projection room, large bar, library, billiards room and two-lane bowling alley.
