Pranab Mukherjee condemns Mumbai serial blasts

Stating that the indomitable spirit of the financial capital of the country would once again respond with courage and renewed vigour to such challenges, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack on the citizens of Mumbai yesterday.

"Pranab Mukherjee has condemned in strongest possible words the cowardly terrorist attack on the citizens of Mumbai yesterday. Mukherjee said that he is deeply saddened by the loss of innocent human lives and the suffering of those who have been injured. He said that he shares the pain and agony of their friends and families," a Ministry of Finance release said.

" Mukherjee said that the indomitable spirit of Mumbai, the Financial Capital of India, as always in the past, would once again respond with courage and renewed vigour to such challenges. The Finance Minister said that he is fully confident that our economy and markets will rise above this incident and continue to show robust growth," the release added.

At least 18 people were killed over 130 others were injured in the three blasts that took place in Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

The three serial blasts rocked Zaveri Bazaar, a popular jewellery market, the busy business area around Opera House and the crowded Deader area of Central Mumbai between 6.45 p.m. and 7.04 p.m. (ANI)
