Vice President, PM condemn Mumbai blasts

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai that claimed 17 lives and injuring many others.
In his message, Ansari expressed deep shock at the scale of the attacks targeted against innocent people causing numerous fatalities and casualties.
He said that such terrorist acts are aimed at destabilising the nation and urged all citizens to unite in this critical hour, a PIB release said.
He also reiterated the national resolve to fight terrorism in all of its malevolent manifestations.
In his message, Dr. Singh strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Mumbai and appealed to the people of the megapolis to remain calm and show a united front.
He said: I have asked the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to do whatever is possible to provide relief to the injured and to the families of the deceased citizens. I have also asked Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram to provide all possible expert assistance to the State Government.
He further appealed to people of Mumbai to remain calm and show a united face.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also condemned the dastardly act of terror in Mumbai and said such acts of cowardice would be dealt appropriately.
BJP President Nitin Gadkari condemning the blast asked the government to take a clear stand in setting up an effective anti-terror infrastructure.
The three serial blasts rocked Zaveri Bazaar, a popular jewellery market, at 6.50 p.m. Another blast shook the busy business area around Opera House. A third blast ripped through the crowded Dadar area of Central Mumbai at 7.04 p.m. (ANI)
