Tel Aviv security blocks pro-Palestinian protesters

Calcutta News.Net
Friday 8th July, 2011

Israeli authorities have arrested pro-Palestinian activists on arrival at Tel Aviv airport.

Israeli sources quoted by Press TV have said at least 60 activists were detained while a total of 25 others were denied entry into Israel on Friday.

The activists had flown from other countries, including France and the United States, to take part in a peaceful pro-Palestinian campaign.

Security officials arrested the activists on arrival and took some away for questioning.

Several left-wing Israeli activists, at the airport to greet the overseas arrivals, were also arrested when they attempted to raise a "Welcome to Palestine" sign.

The activists had planned to be in Israel on Friday to express solidarity with Palestinians and to protest against Israeli border policies.

Prior to the flights Israeli officials had released a list of activist names to international airlines requesting them to block the passengers.

The measure apparently stopped many activist arrivals.

Israel should send these humanitarians to Turkey to help the refugees from Syria. The people of Gaza do not need their help or money. They are loaded and receive tons of money from rich arab countries in exchange for no interference in their despotic governments. Egypt must be aware of plans by gazaans to take over the whole Sinai Desert.
