Slower run dictated for China's high-speed trains

Calcutta News.Net
Thursday 14th April, 2011

The Chinese government has decreed China's high-speed trains should run slower to help reduce costs for passengers.

China's homegrown bullet train, the CRH380A, which has recently set a speed record, will be among the trains to slow down.

The high-speed trains will now run at 300 kilometers per hour beginning July 1.

China now leads the world with over 5,000 kilometres of high-speed rail network.

According to the government, passengers had been complaining about the high fares on high-speed trains, which have replaced some of the slower, cheaper trains.
