Poverty becomes prolific in US

Calcutta News.Net
Thursday 6th January, 2011

US poverty levels have grown higher than expected according to the Census Bureau.

The statistics have revealed that the number of poor people in America, particularly senior citizens, have grown by millions.

Preliminary census figures have indicated that one in every six Americans is living in poverty.

47.8 million people in America are now struggling, compared to the 2010 rate of 43.6 million.

Most of those living below the poverty line are African Americans 65 years of age and older, although the rates also seem to be increasing among whites and Latinos aged 18 to 65.

The figures also show that poverty is on the rise in rural areas across the country, with over 15 percent of rural Americans now regarded as poor.

if you don't start to safe today, you will be poor too when you get older. No one to blame, blame on being lazy!
