One dead in Mumbai fire

A 70-year-old man was burnt alive in a fire due to a suspected gas cylinder blast in south Mumbai Thursday, police said.

'A flat on the second floor of Oriental Building caught fire this evening. Deepak Kuplani was staying there alone as his son was abroad,' said a police official.

Police suspect that the fire was caused by a gas cylinder blast in Kuplani's flat.

'Fire engines were rushed to the spot immediately and the fire was controlled. But when Kuplani was pulled out, he was already dead,' the police official said.
