Four mobile phones, seven chargers, 250 gm of contraband ganja (marijuana) and several other objectionable items were seized by police from a high-security jail in Orissa Wednesday, officials said.

A team of policemen and senior district officials raided different wards and cells of the sub-jail at Kendrapada, some 93 km from here, which has among its inmates several hardcore criminals.

'We found four cell phones, 250 grams of contraband Ganja and Rs.15,000 cash from different cells,' Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol told IANS.

Police have begun investigation as to how the inmates got the cell phones. Large number of cigarette packets, hand-rolled cigarettes (bidis), food items, and vegetables were also found in some of the cells, he said.
