Sports doctors protest non-inclusion in CWG team

Calcutta News.Net

A federation of sports doctors Tuesday protested their non-inclusion in the Commonwealth Games team of doctors.

'Our non-inclusion shows the government's apathy towards sports doctors. The anti-sports medicine attitude have kept the sports doctors of the Sports Authority of India, armed forces and other institutions outside the ambit of the medical team deployed for CWG,' said P.S.M. Chandran, president of Indian Federation of Sports Medicine.

Chandran told IANS that the doctors who are kept away from the mega event include those who have been to Olympic Games, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in the past as Indian team doctors.

A team of 1,882 doctors and staff are being deployed during the Oct 3-14 Games.
