Mumbai to host design conference
Calcutta News.Net Sunday 29th August, 2010
Guided by top designers and creative heads, DesignYatra, India's largest annual design conference, will be held here Sep 3-4 on the theme 'Order of Chaos', an official said.
The event, organized by Kyoorius Exchange, is being held since 2006.
'The conference celebrates design excellence, provides insights into the future of design and simultaneously reinforces the sense of community among India's creative professionals,' said Rajesh Kejriwal, director of Kyoorius Exchange.
'Every year the flow and format of the event changes and reflects the theme for that particular year. This year the theme is Order and Chaos,' Kejriwal added.
The conference will implement programmes to stimulate the minds of professionals and students alike, encouraging them to explore beyond the commonly perceived boundaries of design, adding value towards its role in society and business.
'It is a platform to facilitate the exchange of ideas and to establish networks not only within the community but also with potential buyers,' Kejriwal said.
This year DesignYatra has invited several big names from the industry to leverage their experience and expertise.
Bruno Maag, of Dalton Maag, and Peter Bil'ak, of Typotheque, will speak on typography whereas communications expert Ashwani Singla will speak about cutting through the clutter and communicating with India, Kejriwal said.
'All in all it is a great mixed bag of topics ranging from design and lifestyle by Li Edelkoort, a leading Dutch fashion designer, to localising a global icon by Anoop Prakash of Harley-Davidson,' he added.
