Northeast fashion weekend to bring up new designers, models

In an endeavour to promote new designers and models from the country's northeast, a three-day 'fashion weekend' will be held in Guwahati next month with top names like Ritu Kumar and Wendell Rodericks expected to participate.
The McDowell Signature North East Fashion Weekend beginning Aug 11 will showcase the creations of designers originating from the northeast along with those of famous designers.
'The event is an opportunity to showcase the talent that has largely been restricted to the region so far. This event aims to bring out the work from the northeast and give it a national platform,' said Paramita Saha, CEO of Arts Forward, the organisers of the event.
'It is a pleasure to be a part of this fashion weekend,' said designer Ritu Kumar.
The fashion show will also feature pret by top Indian designers like Rina Dhaka, Soumitra Mandal and Nandini Barua.
The event will kick off with a 'Bold and Beautiful Model Hunt' and discovery of emerging designer form the northeast at Shillong, Guwahati and Dimapur Saturday onwards.
