A very dangerous cold snap has been sweeping across several countries in Latin America.

The cold weather has hit central Argentina, especially around the capital of Buenos Aires where many homeless people have died of hypothermia.

Paraguay has reported the deaths of people from hypothermia and inhaling fumes from coal-burning ovens.

Cattle have been dying in the northern part of the country where the country's meteorological experts are warning that bad weather will last for the rest of the week.

In tropical areas of Bolivia freezing temperatures have also been recorded in unusually harsh weather.

Parts of Chile are also experiencing unusually heavy snowfall.
