PM to address nation on UPA-II's first anniversary in office

As the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government marks first anniversary of its second inning at the Centre, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is expected to unveil his Government's achievements and talk about the road ahead on Monday.

On this occasion, Dr. Singh will address a press conference at Vigyan Bhavan in the national capital.

The UPA government achieved many milestones in the first year of its second term despite the global economic crisis and the challenge posed by naxalism and terrorism.

The country returned to higher growth path in the period and allocated massive funds for social and infrastructure development to ensure inclusive growth.

Large scale reforms were also carried out in education and legal sectors.

Enhancing its strategic partnership, India powerfully put forth its point of view on climate change and mobilizing global opinion to tackle the menace of terrorism, particularly emanating from its neighborhood.

It also inked several Civil Nuclear agreements to meet the growing energy demand are some other areas that also hogged the limelight. (ANI)
