Electric scooter lease deals attractive to Honda
Calcutta News.Net Tuesday 13th April, 2010
Honda's zero-emission electric EV-neo scooter will be sold under lease to Japanese clients.
The EV-neo, which is the equivalent of a 50cc gasoline-powered bike, has proven to be popular with crowds at motor shows in Japan, giving Honda the incentive to work out a new financial arrangement with buyers.
Honda, which hopes to market the bikes to delivery companies, such as courier and fast food companies, will offer the electric bike for lease instead of sale, at a price of around $8,000.
Honda has a booming motorcycle division, with the EV-neo about to join its petrol driven cousins in showrooms.
Honda sold more than 130,000 traditional gasoline-powered scooters in Japan last year.
