Indian rape laws to be reviewed

Central Government has constituted a high-powered committee (HPC) under the chairmanship of Union Home Secretary to review existing laws to prevent rapes in the country.

The committee would examine the issues relating to review of rape laws. The suggestions made by the high powered committee have been formulated into The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2010.

The Home Ministry has uploaded the Draft Bill on its website http://mha.nic.in for the information of general public. ome Ministry has invited views, comments and suggestions of the States and Union Territories on the draft Bill.

In a statement the Home Ministry has asked general public as well as the States and Union Territories to submit their views on or before May 15. (ANI)
