Congress terms minister's book 'Maoist literature'

Calcutta News.Net
Monday 8th March, 2010

The Congress in Chhattisgarh Monday termed a book written by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister as 'Naxal (Maoist) literature'.

Soon after question hour, the Congress sought a debate in the assembly on the alleged Maoist links of Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu on the basis of his Hindi book, 'Akaal Avam Chhattisgarh: Yathaarth Aur Sambhavna'.

Opposition leader Ravindra Choube urged Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik to accept the motion for a comprehensive debate as the minister's book looks like 'Naxal literature'.

But the speaker rejected the motion saying 'the issue is not worth of adjournment motion'.

The Congress said the book, first printed in 2001, had an article by Prafulla Jha, a journalist held in January 2008 on charges of smuggling arms to Maoists.
