China warns US it is causing tension

Calcutta News.Net

Chinese military figures have warned the US that it is igniting long dormant tensions by selling arms to Taiwan and allowing Internet search engine Google to make allegations about China hacking into its system.

A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defence said his government would not go ahead with bilateral military plans with Washington as it had been angered by the arms agreement with Taiwan.

In late January the US said that it would sell $6.4 billion of arms to Taiwan.

On the Google matter, the spokesman said the attacks had not been abetted by the Chinese military.

He said that linking Internet hacking activities to the Chinese government and military was "totally unfounded and utterly irresponsible."

He then warned the United States to speak and act cautiously.
