Four men were injured Wednesday after fidayeen guerrillas lobbed grenades and fired at Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers at Lal Chowk in the heart of the city here, authorities said.

Militant outfit Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen (JuM) claimed responsibility for the attack.

A person claiming to be the spokesman for JuM called a local news agency and owned responsibility for the attack, claiming that two of its guerrillas launched the attack on the security forces in Kashmir.

A police constable, two civilians and a camera-person of a news channel were injured.

The guerrillas have entered a hotel and are firing on the security forces. The gun battle between the security forces and the guerrillas is on.

Senior police officers and CRPF personnel have rushed to the spot and the hotel has been cordoned off.
