Drugs, alcohol recovered from Chhattisgarh jail

A police raid in a jail in this Chhattisgarh city led to recovery marijuana, alcohol and mobile chargers from the prisoners, an official said Wednesday.

The police team led by Raipur central jail superintendent K.K. Gupta searched cells of prisoners and recovered the banned substances.

Gupta said that action would be taken against officials responsible for allowing banned items inside the jail.

The jail has over 2,200 prisoners against a capacity of 1,130 inmates.
