Railway company vows to keep Scottish route

Calcutta News.Net

The National Express rail company in Scotland has vowed to fight to maintain its London-Scotland rail line.

The line has been listed for possible nationalisation due to an alleged default in payments to the government.

National Express has insisted it has not yet defaulted on its East Coast Main Line contract, even though passenger numbers have collapsed due to the weight of the recession.

The company admitted last week it might not meet its latest payment on the £1.4 billion contract.

UK’s transport minister Lord Adonis declared on Wednesday that the line was to be taken back into the public arena.
