Indian production has brief surge
Calcutta News.Net Monday 12th January, 2009
India's industrial production has risen unexpectedly for the month of November.
In recently tabulated data, India was found to have rebounded from a decline in October; the first decline in 15 years.
But for now, domestic consumption is set to moderate as the overall economy loses momentum.
India is facing an uncertain business environment and unemployment outlook with companies scaling back production and getting rid of workers.
The recession in the US, Europe and Japan is hurting demand for made-in-Asia products, forcing India’s companies to trim output.
India's overseas shipments dropped 9.9 per cent in November from a year earlier.
