Congress condemns Israeli attack on Gaza

The Congress party Friday condemned the invasion of Gaza by Israel and demanded that the Israeli action must be stopped with immediate effect.
'The Indian National Congress condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the land invasion of Gaza by Israel which has resulted in a grave humanitarian catastrophe. It calls upon Israel to halt its action, which has crossed all norm of civilized human behaviour,' the party said in statement issued here Friday.
The Congress also demanded the intervention of the UN and international community to stop the bombing of Gaza.
'The Congress demands the immediate intervention of the United Nations Security Council for the cessation of hostilities. The international community must rally together to protect the Palestinian people and also mobilize and pool resources to provide immediate relief,' the statement said.
The Congress said that history will not forgive the failure to stop the killings of innocent men, women and children.
