Goa minister accused of forging wife's signature

The controversy prone Goa Tourism Minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco has been accused by his estranged wife Sara Pacheco of forging her signatures in order to sell four flats in south Goa.

Earlier, the minister was booked by the police in a forgery case Dec 24 involving the sale of a luxury car.

Sara Pacheco, Mickky's estranged wife in a complaint before the Margao police has accused the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator along with his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Lyndon Monteiro of forging her signature in order to sell four flats in South Goa.

Sara, who addressed a press conference in Panaji Monday evening, said that her signatures were forged on the documents in December 2004 and to her knowledge an advance of Rs.400,000 had already been paid to the minister.

'I have never entered into the said agreement and the signature appearing on the agreement is not my signature,' Sara has stated in her complaint.

Speaking to the media, Sara said, that at the time when the agreement was signed, she was not living with her husband. 'He had thrown me out of the house in May 2004 and our relationship was already strained,' Sara said.

Sara has already filed a case of bigamy against the tourism minister. On Christmas eve, the Quepem police had slapped another FIR against Mickky after Sara complained that her husband had forged her signature to sell a Mitsubishi Lancer car sometime back.

The controversy prone Pacheco told the media that the police action was 'politically motivated', hinting at his arch rival Public Works Division minister Churchill Alemao, against whom the NCP legislator has filed a disqualification plea.

'I have not taken up the matter with the chief minister yet,' Mickky said, adding that he would speak to the NCP supreme Sharad Pawar who is in Goa to address a party meet.
