Software cracks iPhone key
Calcutta News.Net Sunday 4th January, 2009
A free piece of software has been developed that enables iPhone 3G owners to use wireless carriers other than those allocated by Apple.
Apple's deals with its iPhone carriers throughout the world are likely to be threatened by the new software which will unlock the phones, leading to a loss in revenue for Apple's wireless partners.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that under agreements signed by Apple and its carriers, the device can generally be used only by subscribers to those carriers.
Users of the new software have successfully installed the new software on their mobile units and have been able to make calls on non-authorized networks.
