Dempo beat SBT 3-0 in Federation Cup match

Dempo Sports club blanked State Bank of Travancore (SBT) 3-0 while Chirag United and Mumbai FC finished with a goalless draw in 30th Federation Cup final round group A league matches here Thursday.
Clifford Miranda, Clifton Gonsalves and Anthony Pereira found the mark for the Goans who did not have to sweat much for their victory in the opening match of the country's national knockout tournament.
Playing at the Vidyasagar Krirangan in Barasat, Dempo surged ahead in the 11th minute with Miranda nodding into the net a cross from Joaquim Abranches.
The scoreline became 2-0 soon after with Abranches launched another move with a fine pass to Gonsalves, who got past SBT defender B.T. Sarath before scoring with a fire-packed grounder.
The winners got a further cushion as Roberto Mendes Silva essayed a measured through in the 48th minute for Pereira, who had no difficulty in going for the kill. The third and final goal was scored three minutes into the second half.
The day's second game saw both Chirag and Mumbai FC missing easy chances.
