Mystery shrouds Japanese woman's death in Delhi hotel

Uncertainty loomed large over the cause of the death of a 50-year-old Japanese woman, who was found dead in a central Delhi hotel Monday, a police officer said Tuesday.
The officer said the autopsy could not be carried out because the body was unclaimed.
Oda Koru was found dead and her French husband Agase Jean Marie unconscious in the Sun Light hotel in Karol Bagh. Initially police suspected a drug overdose may have caused the death.
'The cause of death is not yet known as we couldn't send Koru's body for autopsy Monday, as (the) body remained unclaimed,' DCP central Jaspal Singh told IANS.
Koru's husband is in hospital and police are waiting for him to recover and claim the body.
Singh said police did call up Koru's parents in Japan Monday but they claimed to have disowned their daughter.
'Koru's husband is out of danger and police will record his statement Tuesday. We will register a case only after the autopsy and viscera reports of Oda,' Singh said.
The couple worked as translators. They came to India Nov 2 and checked in the hotel Sunday.
