Fight over shoes leaves teenager dead in Punjab
Calcutta News.Net Monday 1st December, 2008 (IANS)
A quarrel over a pair of shoes between two teenaged friends left one of them dead in this Punjab town Monday, the police said.
The victim, Gurlagan Singh, 16, was allegedly shot in his face from point blank range with a .32 bore revolver by his friend Gurvinder Singh in a village here, 200 km from Chandigarh.
District police chief Ashok Baath said a case of murder has been registered against Gurvinder Singh and another youth, Harmandeep.
The victim's jaw was ripped open after he was shot from such close range.
Police officials said the friends quarreled a few days back over a pair of shoes that they both liked and one of them bought it, leaving the other one fuming.
Police officials are also investigating if the fight was over some girl.
The incident took place Monday afternoon when the victim was taken by their common friend, Harmandeep, to the assailant's village. Gurlagan and Gurvinder again got into a heated argument instead of sorting out the issue.
The police are looking for the assailants.
