California union boss told to pay back money

Calcutta News.Net
Thursday 27th November, 2008

The former president of a large Californian union has been ordered to repay more than US$1 million.

Tyrone Freeman has been accused of misappropriating the money from the United Long-Term Care Workers union, which boasts 160,000-members.

The union represents low-wage caregivers.

The misappropriation was investigated by a former California Supreme Court Justice, who reported to the union that Freeman had engaged in a pattern of financial malpractice and self-dealing.

Put this union theft in jail! Unions may have been a good thing when initialy formed but have become the tail that wags the dog .. and are heavily responsible for today’s economic mess.
