Two men crushed to death in bus accident
Calcutta News.Net Sunday 23rd November, 2008 (IANS)
Two young men, leaning out of a Blueline bus, were crushed to death Sunday when the vehicle brushed past a stationary van in the capital, police said.
'Bappun Swarankar and Prakash Saha were standing on the rear steps of Blueline bus number 721 when it hit a stationary delivery van near the Laxmi Palace hotel, killing the two,' a police official said.
While Swarankar hailed from the Malda district of West Bengal, Saha was from Katihar in Bihar. Both were in their early 20s, the police added.
Investigations into the accident, in the Karol Bagh area of central Delhi, are underway, the official said.
Over 70 people have been killed this year in accidents involving Blueline buses. Last year, at least 120 people were run over by the 'killer' buses.
