China torture claims denied by president

Calcutta News.Net
Sunday 23rd November, 2008

A UN report on allegations of widespread torture in China has been rejected by the Chinese government.

The United Nations Committee Against Torture called on China to probe rights abuses and investigate the crushing of the 1989 pro-democracy movement in Tiananmen Square.

But foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang has said the people who compiled the report used false information.

He said: 'It is a pity that some of the committee members responsible for compiling the concluding observations, due to their prejudice towards China, used slander and false information and acted unfairly and unobjectively.”

'The committee remains deeply concerned about the continued false allegations of torture and ill treatment of suspects in police custody, especially to extract confessions or information to be used in criminal proceedings,' he said.

Widespread?

Hmmm, torture on every corner? Think not! maybe just a little of poetic license! Every country and improve, this is a fact! and China still has some serious punishment techniques for those that do not agree.. China has also come along way and it should be encouraged to recognise the value in protecting it’s own peoples values... America and the rest of the world is not exception.

communism tortures it’s citizen through barrel of guns and capitalism tortures its citizen by making them economically poor.
