Mid-East airlines suffer drop in passenger numbers

Calcutta News.Net
Sunday 26th October, 2008

Middle Eastern airline passenger numbers fell in September as the global economic crisis took hold.

The regional decline of nearly three percent was in line with all international air travel.

The Geneva-based International Air Transport Association said passenger traffic declined globally in September while cargo traffic also dropped 7.7 per cent.

IATA represents about 230 airlines and has warned capacity cuts will not be able to keep pace with the fall in demand.
