Joe the Plumber takes on the media
Calcutta News.Net Sunday 19th October, 2008
The man known as "Joe the Plumber," since becoming the focal point of the presidential race, has lashed media organizations for using information about his personal life.
Joe Wurzelbacher, who is a plumber from Holland, Ohio, speaking on Fox News to Mike Huckabee, a former presidential candidate, said he was unhappy with the attention.
Wurzelbacher told the former Republican presidential hopeful: "The media's worried about whether I've paid my taxes, they're worried about any number of silly things that have nothing to do with America."
Wurzelbacher became famous after he met Barack Obama during a crowd walk-through and asked if the Democrat tax proposals would prevent him from being able to afford to buy his own plumbing company.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain later went on to portray Wurzelbacher as an example of public concern about Obama's tax plans.
Since then, media outlets have reported Wurzelbacher's annual earnings, and have suggested he would receive a tax cut rather than an increase under Obama's plan.
Wurzelbacher said of his media exposure: "I felt about that small. I mean I really did."
