HD format still fighting the Blu-ray revolution

Calcutta News.Net
Wednesday 8th October, 2008

Toshiba's HD DVD format is picking up again after losing some of the home entertainment war to Sony's Blu-ray.

Tougher economic conditions have breathed new life into the HD format after Hollywood dropped its support in favour of Blu-ray.

Aggressive price cuts have maintained the market for HD DVD players, which also play standard DVDs.

The cost of movie discs has fallen to as little as $10 on HD, while players can be picked up for less than $60.

A Blu-ray player by contrast costs about $250.

Hollywood studios are no longer releasing new titles on HD DVD.

HD format still fighting the Blu-ray revolution

Talk about picking up a complete waste of space article.

The content providers are not going to reverse their direction because of a few bargain hunters and some very vocal anti-Sony consumers.

Do you really believe the content providers are jumping at the chance to release HD DVD titles that no one would pay over $10?

Blu-ray won. HD DVD is not coming back. Every studio is now supporting Blu-ray.
