Congress sends relief trucks to Bihar

Congress president Sonia Gandhi Friday flagged off nine trucks carrying relief material for the Bihar flood victims.

'It is the first lot of 50 trucks the party will be sending,' Delhi Congress unit president J.P. Aggarwal said here.

The event follows Congress general sceretary Rahul Gandhi's two-day visit to the state. Rahul Gandhi had promised additional help for the flood victims.

Heavy floods caused by the rampaging Kosi river have swallowed up vast areas in northern Bihar, displacing hundreds of thousands.
