Jailed BSP lawmaker denied permission to attend session
Calcutta News.Net Tuesday 19th August, 2008 (IANS)
A Faizabad court Tuesday denied Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Anand Sen permission to attend the ongoing legislative session of the state assembly, an official said.
Anand, accused of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a 24-year-old Dalit girl, is at present lodged in the Faizabad Central Jail, the official added.
On Monday, Anand, lawmaker from Milkipur constituency of Faizabad, filed an application before the court for permission to attend the legislative session, officials said.
Hearing the petition, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) S.K. Tiwari said as Anand is accused of a 'serious crime', the permission could not be granted.
The CJM admitted the charge sheet filed by the police against Anand in connection with the murder of the Dalit girl, Shashi, officials said.
Yogendra Prasad, the father of the slain girl, had charged Anand with kidnapping and murder of his daughter, saying that the lawmaker, his driver Vijay Sen and a woman were involved in the incident.
