Australian climbers rescued from mountain

Calcutta News.Net

A search and rescue helicopter team has taken six missing Australian climbers from Mount Cook in New Zealand.

Helicopters started searching after the climbers activated an emergency beacon on Thursday.

While bad weather and an avalanche risk hampered efforts to find them, the Australians were finally off-lifted during a break in the blizzard conditions.

The helicopter was able to go directly to the location where the beacon was set off.

The climbers are now being medically assessed for injuries.
