Poddar Hospital, Danish firm set up speech, hearing therapy unit

A Danish firm has joined hands with the city-based B.P. Poddar Hospital to set up a state-of-the-art hearing and speech therapy centre, Senso Hearing Centre, in the city.
The centre has been inaugurated here Thursday.
The Danish firm, Widex has 80 percent stake in the Indian unit and the rest is held by its arm, Widex India.
Widex India managing director T.S. Anand said: 'We plan to invest around Rs.10 million this financial year to set up store-in-store ventures in India.'
'For this particular unit we have invested only Rs.600,000-Rs.700,000 for buying imported equipments,' he added.
This is the 26th venture of the company. It has centres in all metro cities of the country.
The company has 50 percent market share in digital hearing aid in India.
Widex India is in talks with two international companies - Cochlear Ltd of Australia and Med-el of Austria - to strike deals that could help Widex India guide patients for Cochlear implantations and enhance training and programming after the operation.
