Iranian woman arrested after alleging sexual harrasment
Calcutta News.Net Friday 20th June, 2008
A female Iranian student who alleged sexual harassment by a male teacher has been arrested.
The woman claimed she had been molested by the vice-chancellor of the university where she was studying.
Her original complaint triggered a massive demonstration by her fellow students in the Iranian city of Zanjan, who took control of the campus, staging a sit-in and taking into custody the alleged perpetrator.
Students claim to have an audio recording of the lecturer sexually propositioning the girl.
University authorities suspended the teacher and agreed to form a joint committee with students to look into the issue.
But the alleged victim and perpetrator are now in custody, with the girl being threatened with prosecution because she publicised the alleged crime, which is also regarded as an offence.

Iranian woman arrested after alleging sexual harrasment
You got to be kidding!
the victim is in custody because she publicised the alleged crime?
That is insane.
The perpetrator should be made a example of .. not the victim.
His (perpetrator) picture should be posted on television, newspaper
everywhere. The victim given a reward for turning in the distorted
perpetrator male teacher.

Strange Laws
These strange laws, that dominate the Iranian society, are male oriented, surely these Iranians do not respect equal rights, or woman’s rights, and not even human rights at that.
I believe that it is time that these people break away from their archaic law system, which denies woman their rights as free individuals, I applaud this woman’s fellow students for supporting her in defending her rights.
Iran should open itself to the outside world so that maybe the closed minded people that control Iran will be illuminated and realize that they are living in the dark age mentality, and break away from the fanatism that they are imposing upon its people, this clearly indicates what isolationism will do to a country.
Also, we must blame the international community for isolating Iran, and by doing this, those fanatics that are in control of Iran are assured to practice their old age archaic laws without making changes, keeping always their people in the dark though their continous religious propaganda, and keeping a religious fanatical state which practices their “Sharia Law” which is totally against all human rights and human dignity.

Iranian People
The students at Zanjan University have been demonstrating for days, that includes male and female students. They are all standing up together against military theocracy of Islamic Republic Molla system. I think we should appreciate that male and female students are standing up together and supporting each other against the Islamic Republic system that does not respect basic human rights.

The US has similar requirements for some alledged crimes...
... , and there are very just reasons for such laws.
Example: Senational Accusations, easily destroy the accused’s life prior to a fair trial.
Seems the impartial law was being applied in this Iranian Investigation. So why did the aledged victim need to violate the law? The most most likely of answers are revenge, and hoax,i.e., an attack on the Government.
Rule of Law requires the 'Process', and the aledged victim’s violation is obvious in the publicity.
