Finolex to introduce lead-free pipes

Mumbai June 12 (IANS) Pipes manufacturing major Finolex Industries Ltd (FIL) is set to launch lead-free plumbing systems in India.
Announcing this here Thursday, FIL president V.V. Khandekar said in the first phase, the company would introduce lead-free pipes in select parts of the country.
There's always a chance of water flowing through pipes getting contaminated, Khandekar said. 'Through this system, we have managed to eliminate toxic lead from the flowing water,' he added.
In the second phase, Finolex intends to introduce lead-free plumbing technology throughout India.
The company has already introduced ultra-violet stabilizing plumbing system in the country. Khandekar said the market for this plumbing system has grown substantially in southern India.
