Mumbai Indians register fastest T20 win

Mumbai Indians registered the fastest win in Twenty20 cricket in terms of number of balls remaining when they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets here Friday.
Mumbai Indians won the game with 87 balls to spare, which is a world record in Twenty20 for the fastest win in terms of balls remaining, bettering Jamaica's feat of winning the game against Bermuda at Coolidge with 85 balls to spare on Jul 21, 2006. In response to Bermuda's total of 74 off 19.4 overs, Jamaica had reached the target off 5.5 overs.
Other statistical highlights of the match
* Kolkata Knight Riders faced just 92 balls while posting 67 - the second worst performance in IPL. Bangalore Royal Challengers, while making 82, had faced 91 balls.
* Sanath Jayasuriya, with an unbeaten 48, took his tally to 300 at an average of 42.85 with a strike rate of 180.72.
* Jayasuriya, with three sixes in his knock, took his tally to 18 - the most by any batsman in the competition, bettering David Hussey's tally of 17 sixes.
* Mumbai Indians posted their fifth win in a row in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab were the first two teams to record five successive wins.
* Kolkata Knight Riders (67) posted the lowest total in the IPL, surpassing the 82 by Bangalore Royal Challengers against Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural game at Bangalore on April 18.
* Shaun Pollock (3/12) produced his career-best figures in Twenty20 - his first instance of three wickets in the IPL.
* Sachin Tendulkar became the first fielder to take four catches in an IPL innings. Abhishek Nayar and Robin Uthappa had taken three catches each in an IPL innings. Interestingly, all the three fielders accomplished the feat for Mumbai Indians.
* Dominic Thornely (2/7) produced his best bowling figures in the IPL.
* Rohan Raje (2/16) recorded his best bowling performance in the IPL.
* Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina now jointly hold the record for most catches in the IPL.
