White tigress dies in Madhya Pradesh park

A white female tiger died at Van Vihar National Park here, two days after being operated upon, the park officials said Thursday.
The tigress, Rini, was paralytic and also suffered from an unnatural growth just below the right eye for which she was operated upon Tuesday.
'The tigress has had a growth under her right eye that was proving incurable, so we had to resort to surgical intervention. Her condition was stable after the operation and she was responding properly to the treatment,' said veterinarian Atul Gupta, who had operated upon the animal.
A total of six big cats have died in the national park since October 2006, including two white tigers, one tigress, two tigers and a lion.
