WTA Sunfeast Open shifted from Kolkata to Mumbai
Calcutta News.Net Wednesday 14th May, 2008 (IANS)
Sports management company Globosport has decided to shift India's showpiece women's tennis event WTA Sunfeast Open from Kolkata to Mumbai due to a clash of dates with Durga Puja.
The fourth edition of $175,000 Sunfeast Open will now take place at the Cricket Club of India from October 6-12.
'The change in venue for the Sunfeast Open was inevitable due to a clash of dates with the Durga Puja festival in Kolkata this year. The decision was taken after detailed discussions with the WTA,' said Mahesh Bhupathi, managing director of Globosport.
The tournament will be held outdoors unlike the previous three editions in Kolkata.
Mumbai also hosts another tennis event ATP Kingfisher Open at the same venue
