Calcutta News.Net Friday 14th December, 2007
Four thousand firms have been placed on an air pollution blacklist in China.
Companies such as Michelin China, Sina-Mars Group, Toyota and Ford are on the list of the China’s worst polluters.
The Beijing-based Institute of Public and Environment Affairs has started collecting information about polluters and has put it up on their web site.
The institute's latest database records air quality and air pollution sources in 150 cities in the southern parts of the country.
The web site also features the China Water Pollution Map, which makes public details of water violations, including those involving nearly 300 foreign firms.
