Madhya Pradesh Christian groups to protest police inaction

The Christian groups in Madhya Pradesh will protest the police inaction against those involved in an attack on five Roman Catholic nuns, allegedly beaten up by Hindu activists, by holding a dharna at Gandhi Chowk here Sunday.
Five nuns, belonging to the Fransiscan Clarist Congregation (FCC), were returning from a prayer meeting when they were allegedly attacked by members of Hindu organisation, Dharma Raksha Samiti, here Thursday night.
'Nuns were beaten by a mob of 20 Hindu activists, when they were returning back after a cottage prayer meeting at their driver's house. They were dragged and their clothes were torn,' sister Geo from FCC told IANS.
'Sister Sayujya's leg was broken while sister Jincy has seven stitches on her head. Sisters Pavithra, Shwetha and Anna Maria were also injured,' she said.
An emergency meeting of the Christian leaders held at Bhopal Friday resolved to join the dharna to be held against the incident and the police inaction.
'The meeting also decided to hold a candle light procession Oct 31 at T.T. Nagar in Bhopal and to close all educational institutions run by Christian groups if immediate action was not taken against the culprits,' said Father Anand Muttungal, Regional Public Relations Officer Catholic Church.
Dharma Raksha Samiti convenor, Kamal Waghela, said: 'Sisters were involved in alluring people to accept the Christian faith'.
