Australian police under fire for bungled terror charge
Calcutta News.Net Sunday 22nd July, 2007
The Australian newspaper has revealed police made serious factual errors in their handling of the case against jailed Indian national, Dr Mohamed Haneef.
Dr Haneef has been charged with providing support to a terrorist organisation.
Questions are arising about the Australian Federal Police officers who questioned Haneef over potentially incriminating notes in his diary.
It has now come to light that the police officers actually pencilled the entries, writing in the names of overseas terrorism suspects.
Dr Haneef's lawyer has questioned why police would write on a diary that could later be required as evidence.
Public uneasiness is now being felt over police bungling and misleading information offered to the courts.
Last week erroneous information concerning a mobile phone SIM card was given to a Queensland court when police asserted that Dr Haneef’s card had been found in the jeep which was involved in bungled bomb plot in Glasgow. The information was false.
The police have now corrected the record, but questions are being raised as to why they provided misleading information in the first place and why it was not immediately corrected.
Meanwhile, Australian Federal Police chief Mick Keelty has also dismissed as inaccurate a weekend report that police had discovered evidence of a plot by Dr Haneef to blow up an apartment block.
The Australian government has accused Dr Haneef's lawyers of waging a campaign to undermine anti-terrorism laws.

This is sickening
Where is Australia headed!!!
AFP writing evidence into a terrorism suspect’s diary, made up stories of buildings, bombs and plots, major mistakes made and not even a correction till the media pick up on it. Disgusting.
The sooner these bunglers are removed from government the better.
Lets hope the other team is a little better — hehe — not going to hold my breath.

Let's Compare
1. David Hicks was caught with Rocket launcher in afghanistan within a terrorist group. Haneef was captured with “nothing” in australia on a valid visa!!
2. Australian Government strggled hard to get David hicks back from Guantanamo Bay. In Haneef case Aus Govt, AFP, “etc”, are struggling hard to send Haneef in Guantanamobay like detention center!!
3. Millions of Australian showed sympathy for David hicks but only few aussies is showing sympathy for Haneef!!
List will go on....shall we think racism is over????
Please comment.

Disgraceful AFP
I am sure I am not alone in being absolutely appalled by this farce and the completely unfair prolonged incarceration and interrogation this poor doctor has faced because of mere prior association with known offenders on the other side of the world and not one declared skerrick of evidence to link him to terrorism. I am hardly surprised at the incompetence and lying of the AFP. It highlights the fact that the culture and personnel quality of the AFP (and I would suggest all police forces in Australia based on recent problems in all states and territories) is abysmal. What is even more disturbing is the apparent collusion of the judiciary in this process, perhaps because of political pressure. I am ashamed to say that I do not trust our governement, judiciary or police to do the right thing, rather I would be terrified if I was ever on the receiving end of any sort of serious allegation. This is “guilty until proven innocent” and Dr Haneef must be immediately released unless concrete evidence is produced- now.

I remeber the lil pUNDIT saying, ...
... , 'I know one thing, these are bad people.'
Well, we hahve also seen the the lil pUNDIT’s supporters like uncle toms that just 'know' bad things about people! Such ideas are triggered by their messianic minds keying off of a few indoctrined 'words'.
