New Delhi, June 20 : Ford Motor Company launched an upgraded version of its Endeavour Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in India on Wednesday, hoping to capture a better share of the SUV market in the country.

Ford India President and Managing Director Arvind Mathew said his company was looking forward to expand its already significant share in the nation's premium SUV segment.

Mathew also said the company has tremendous growth potential in the Indian market because of its constant innovation to stay ahead of competition.

The face-lifted Endeavour, priced between Rs 14,72,000 and Rs 15,62,000, is offered with a 2.5-litre Duratorque common-rail diesel engine that put out a peak power of 143 PS.

"It is an outstanding engine with the latest technology like common rail direct injection, class leading torque and excellent fuel economy. It is still refined and powerful enough to give consumers all the benefits of the new technology," he said.

He claimed the new car was better equipped to function in rough terrain.

"A lot of the other competitors in the market are soft loaders, they can handle city roads only. The Endeavour can handle both city roads and off roads perfectly and that's what makes it different," added Mathew.

With the new powerful engine, the SUV will also be able to offer a more powerful and refined power train that meets future emission norms.

Considerable changes have been made to the interior of the new Endeavour with emphasis on comfort as well as style.ccording to industry figures, during January-May this year the Indian premium SUV market has grown by 27 percent over the same period last year.
