Two Maoist militants were shot dead by security personnel in a pre-dawn strike Sunday in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district and arms and explosives recovered.

The incident took place in a forested stretch in Pollampalli locality of Dantewada, the worst Maoist-hit district in India.

'In a coordinated attack, Special Task Force (STF) personnel backed by district force and a team of Special Police Officers raided a rebel hideout Sunday in Dantewada and shot dead two militants,' a senior police officer told IANS by phone. The police recovered some foreign made pistols and explosives from the slain militants.
