'Super thief' Bunty nabbed in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 14 : Police on Saturday nabbed notorious burglar Devender alias Bunty, who over past couple of years had managed to evade arrest.
Thirty one -year-old Bunty, better known as 'Super Chor'(Super Thief) is accused in close to 200 cases of burglary, most of which were conducted in the last one year in the posh localities of South Delhi.
Police also recovered six truckloads of stolen goods stocked by him, worth a whopping sum of rupees four crores.
"In 42 cases he was found guilty and was imprisoned for five years in 2002. On October 5, 2006 he was released and after being released he told us that he would no more steal. We knew that he is a very smart thief and that he will not stop stealing. Stealing is not only his profession but also his passion," said Anil Shukla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).
Bunty was also caught in Chandigarh in 1998, but managed to escape from police custody.
Notorious for his addiction to committing burglaries, he had managed to elude the police in Chandigarh, Chennai and Delhi.
Bunty is known to have always picked the choicest of items like Kashmiri carpets and decorative crystal cutlery, golf sets, guitars, jewellery, even antique clocks, phones, antique mirrors, 4.5 litre bottles of Johnnie Walker and Grants scotch, Rolex, Rado and Armani watches, and even models of Ferrari and Porsche.
