The charaterisation of a trip to Israel of US Senators as " indoctrination” shows that some at the Philippine Times have themselves been " indoctrinated ".

Surprised at use of word 'indoctrination'

I must admit I was surprised when I saw the headline and it motivated me to read the story. Having read it I must admit I don’t know what other word I could have used to better describe what was happening. It is indeed indoctrination.

As the article says this 'committee' is the only joint committee between the American Congress and another country. The Israeli guy says of the American senators “They are mostly non-Jewish and we want them to feel some obligation to the country”.

The article says the senators will be briefed by Mossad Officials about Iran, Hezbollah and global Jihad,' and will meet with the opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, the Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and the Chief of the Mossad.

I find this very difficult to understand why there is this continuing shuttle of US politicians to Israel. They are elected to represent the United States.

Whats going on here?

Why are our senators getting brief by leading figures in another country? Why are they getting briefed by the military and intelligence chiefs of another country, and even their opposition leader? And what are we doing going over there to get briefed? There are important matters being debated (or non-debated in the Senate). The vote gets stifled on the Iraq war because of four votes, and we find some of our senators are in Israel " getting briefed." Anyone know who the other senators are in this delegation other than Jon Kyl?

Made to look like a visit to Iraq.

I see local news reports saying Kyl missed the senate vote on Iraq on Saturday because “he was on a trip to Iraq”. Nothing about the trip to Israel. I dug a bit deeper and found this on AZ Central:

“GOP Sen. Jon Kyl and freshman Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona are among a small group of congressional members scheduled to depart Iraq this morning (Sunday) after a one-day visit to Baghdad. They will stop in Israel before returning to the United States late Tuesday."

That too makes it sound like they are on a trip to Iraq, and will just be stopping over in Israel. Read a bit more:

“Kyl, chairman of the Congressional Knesset Inter-Parliamentary Conference, said the rescheduling of a trip to Israel that had been put off last year gave him a chance to add the Iraq piece. He said he did so, in part, to give congressional newcomers like Giffords and Sens. Bob Casey, D-Pa., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., an opportunity to visit that country."

So Iraq was just an add-on yet in all the press reports the delegation is reported as being on a trip to Iraq.

The article says that after learning of the planned Saturday vote, Casey scrapped his plans. So did Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont. Kyl, who is one of the Republican senators who opposes the Iraq surge of troops, missed the vote.

So a 1-day visit to Baghdad, and a 3 day visit to Israel, but only reports for a trip to Iraq appear. Why? Why don’t they be upfront and say they are going to Israel for three days to be briefed by their government and will be stopping off on the way for a few hours in Iraq?

Who paid for this trip, the US taxpayers, or worse still the Israeli government? This is a question that should be answered.

Israel needs to stop meddling in US politics.

Foreign Lobbies

I was wondering when it would occur to Americans to question why all of our politicians see the need to go to Israel to get their education and to learn what Israel wants. It happens with each change in our government and with each change the Israeli government grabs more power over our officials. This is the work of the jewish lobbies who spend most of their time and money recruiting faithful servants for Israel. Israel has Pelosi firmly in its corner and Reid in the Senate also. These people see an “unbreakable bond” between Israel and the United States. No one can remember ever voting for this unbreakable bond or the “special relationship” that is always mentioned when speaking of the two countries. It’s a con job folks! The public never voted for a special realtionship, especially one that puts our troops in harm’s way for another country’s benefit.
Time to outlaw foreign lobbies altogether as they exert way too much influence over our policies.

They were carrying signs stating: “State of Israel does not represent world Jewry”; “Authentic Rabbis always opposed Zionism and the State of Israel”; “Judaism Rejects Jewish State”, etc...I could’nt believe my eyes!! Orthodox Jews against Zionism?!?! Spoke with one of the Rabbis 'n he briefly explained they were “protesting the mere existence of the State of Israel which is in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Torah which forbids the establishment of a Jewish state." He said “Jews are required to be loyal citizens in all the countries in which they reside and are forbidden to rebel against any nation” and that “the continuing existence of the State of Israel has brought about the unabated ruthlessness and barbarity being committed against humanity." He said they had also protested outside the UN on Sept 20th, and on Aug 12th in Washington DC they had a protest march against the “Zionist atrocities in Lebanon and Gaza."...and that on Nov 13th they would again be in DC for a protest during the visit of Prime Minister Olmert.
